When you apply to the Au Pair Care program, you’ll be taking the first step towards having a rewarding year caring for children, improving your English and making new friends in the United States!
Au Pair Qualifications
In order to qualify for the Au Pair Care program, you must meet the following requirements:
Be between the ages of 18 and 26 years old
Be proficient in English
Have previous childcare experience
Be a secondary school graduate (high school) or equivalent
Have no criminal record
Be in good health
When you are ready to apply to the program, you’ll complete our online au pair application, in which you’ll be asked to provide the following information:
Your childcare experience and skills
Details about your interests, lifestyle and skills
Driving history and preferences
Information about your family background
Reasons for wanting to become an au pair
Education history
Health information
Picture you want to share with host families
As part of our application process, you’ll also be interviewed in person and in English by an Au Pair Care representative and take a psychometric test. You’ll also be asked to provide the following background information including:
Two childcare references from your former childcare employers
One personal reference
Medical form completed by your physician
Criminal background check
Your local Au Pair Care representative is available to support you during the entire application process. You’ll also have access to helpful information about your program in Au Pair Room, our online resource for au pairs. Once your application is accepted by Au Pair Care, your application will become available to interested families.
